The worst part about living out of my car was always trying to keep the utter lack of organization under control. Hummingbird Mountain Gear, a small Boulder-based company, has created the gear swaddle to help minimize clutter.
The gear swaddle is handmade, so turn around time is two to three weeks. They will even customize colors of your preference! The swaddle is made of 1000D Cordura, which is a nylon blended fabric that kicks ass when it comes to durability.
The gear swaddle comes with two rows of daisy chains to clip your gear to, as well as mesh pockets to hold small, loose gear (such as phone, keys, headlamp, and dog snacks. Human snacks, too). The chains are ideal for clipping full sets of nuts, cams, quick draws, and alpine draws and keeps everything neat and in its place.
The swaddle then rolls up and cinches tight with buckles and allows you to carry off to the crag of your choice “duffle-bag” style. It’s like magic without the tricks: just simple and functional, the way all climbing gear should be. It can be found on the website and sells for $90.
Disclosure: I am currently an athlete with Hummingbird Mountain Gear and the gear was provided for this review. All opinions are honest and my own.
