Finding a good daypack is as important as a solid backcountry pack, in my opinion. Backpacks are so much more than a daily necessity of your past schoolyard days; they’re a way to conveniently get around without much hassle. In a past life, biking around Brooklyn, I defaulted to a tiny Bullet pack which could hold only the bare necessities: lunch, some climbing shoes, and some kid crafts for work. I couldn’t even fit my laptop!
Nowadays, as I bounce back and forth between trail days and city dwelling, my greatest travel companion is the Deuter Walker Daypack.
At 780g, this 24-liter pack is perfect for both my urban and small outdoor adventures. Being so lightweight, it’s comfortable enough to tote around and my back doesn’t feel like breaking at the end of the day. Two anatomically shaped shoulder straps give a good range of motion and the comfort of freedom with soft edges, and the sternum strap lets me adjust to my correct size. The removable waist belt allows for optimal load distribution so I can pack it all and not feel weighed down. We’re talking lunch, laptop, climbing gear, and at least one Tupperware full of cookies.
The Walker has a two air-channeled airstripe system to reduce contact and maximize airflow. It’s perfect for circulation while hauling it around the city/town, hiking, or general travel. So long, sweaty back shirt stains! Hello, beautiful ventilation. You feel so good.
The material used for the daypack is 55% polyester and 45% nylon. Both materials come with a PU coating with a water protection of 2,000mm. The bag does not include a rain cover, but you have the option of purchasing one separately. It is hand washable.
The Walker 24 includes a padded document compartment that is perfect for a laptop (up to 39cm or 15.6”) and is easily accessed from outside as well as internally, thanks to the side-zip feature. There is also a zippered side pocket, zippered front pocket, and internal organizer that keeps everything neat and accessible as well. This line comes in a variety of colors and three different sizes: 16, 20, and 24 liters. You can put cookies in ALL of the pockets.
When you are looking for a weeklong escape or just a weekday hike, or even just biking around town/the city, the Walker Daypack covers all of your needs (whether you are looking for a sporty daypack or a stylish, compact one). This daypack has it all!**
**Except for cookies; cookies not included.
